New Alliance Boosts Pinnacle's
Capabilities in Systems Analysis and
Discrete Event Simulation
Strategic alliances between firms with complementary skill sets
benefit clients with increased flexibility, optimization of high-level resources – and best value.
A new working agreement does just that for Pinnacle clients who
require top engineering talent for facility design, material flow, productivity analysis, and discrete event modeling.
The synergies facilitated by the alliance also give clients access
to “best practices” in several key disciplines, a substantial
experience base, and a cost-efficiency that’s virtually
unachievable using traditional approaches.
It also reduces timelines. “Lead times are contracting – sometimes radically – for projects of all types,” says Pinnacle CEO Ken Sutphin. “Established working alliances are a way to manage this reality –
while expanding deliverables to meet client needs.”
Recently, the alliance partners modeled an OP&F conveyor for
a major Tier 1. The team then determined the modifications
necessary to achieve new model year volume requirements.
“Our work allowed them to quantify the value of the most
cost-effective modifications, that was the ‘bottom line."
Determining the actual numbers relative to system
performance, in terms of investment and ROI,”
allowed decisions to be made based on best-available data.”

Pinnacle / Haden Alliance is Central
to DCX "Insourcing" Strategy
Pinnacle Engineering was chosen by Haden International Group
to be part of the collaborative partnership that is breaking new
ground – and creating unprecedented synergies – for the Toledo complex that assembles Jeep Wranglers.
Three major suppliers – Haden, Kuka Flexible Production
Systems and Hyundai Mobis, will own and operate the paint
shop, body shop and chassis assembly operations within
the footprint of the Toledo plant. Their combined capital
expenditure will total $900 million; total investment for the
complex is forecast at $2.1 billion.
Pinnacle’s work with Haden include overall conveyor systems
design consulting, layout for the 400,000 sq. ft. paint shop,
bid pack specifications and drawings for use by conveyor equipment manufacturers. Pinnacle will also provide throughput simulation
analysis, and evaluate contractor bids and documents. With lead
times critical, Pinnacle provided complete bid specifications
documents eight weeks following contract award.
The first vehicles to be produced in this revolutionary facility will
be new 2006 versions of the Jeep Wrangler. DCX could add as
many as four new products to the facility over the next few
model-years.

Kellogg Consortium Uses Pinnacle
Expertise for Electrified Monorail
Pinnacle provided a comprehensive Equipment Health Analysis
for an electrified monorail system used to transport cereal products
from storage to delivery docks.
The assessment reviewed equipment condition, quantified its
uptime performance, evaluated it for efficiency of operation and assigned an expected lifespan, based on current operating
conditions.
The Health Analysis was done as part of an overall plan to
increase uptime performance for equipment plant-wide at
Kelloggs in London, Ontario. The plant produces approximately
750,000 cartons of cereal daily.
